Very recently I shaved the remaining hair I had left, I had so little there was not much point in keeping it, it looked messy and I was sick of finding it everywhere so I am now for the first time without any head hair at all. I didn't expect it to be much different as I didn't have much hair left anyway but I'm actually finding it is a whole new sensation. One of the weirdest for me was going to bed, I struggled with the feeling of the cold air and the pillow which meant where I normally fall asleep quite quickly, it was taking me ages to fall asleep. I occasionally wake up in the night and I used to just fall straight back to sleep but I wasn't getting used to the feeling so I was finding if I woke up, I properly woke up and it took ages again to go to sleep. I knew Hipheadwear did nightcaps so I fairly quickly decided I wanted to give one a go.
I went for the navy blue based on no other decision than I like the colour. With my day wear I enjoy matching and co-ordinating the headwear with my clothes but don't feel I need to do this with my pj's and this meant I could go for whichever colour I fancied (although it randomly worked out that the pj's I was wearing when it arrived did match). There is a lovely range of colours to choose from so I can go for different colours as I expand my collection so I can pick whatever I am in the mood to wear.
I was excited to receive the night cap and so when it arrived I gave it a go even though it was hours before I was going to bed. The first thing that struck me was how soft it was and how comfortable it was against my head. It easily adapted to the shape of my head and I liked how it is low at the back so my neck won't get a draft either. When I did go to bed, it was so much more comfortable, I was amazed at how light it was but it took away the odd sensation of the cool air and the pillow which meant I was able to drop off pretty quickly.
The nightcap is now part of my nightly routine of getting ready for bed, I keep it with my pyjamas and I'm able to easily put it on before going to bed. I had thought I might only need it during the colder months but when looking online I noticed it said it absorbs moisture so I will actually be very interested to try it in summer and see how I get on. I also thought it might be good for a completely different purpose to wear under my bicycle helmet. I’m not riding my bike at the moment so haven’t tried it but it seems the right shape and is nice and light so I will be experimenting when I get back on the bike again as I had been concerned about wearing a helmet on my bare head but hats never seem to fit right under them so I will keep you updated on my progress with the nightcap later on in the year.
